The Plums Are Ripening Early – Here's What's Ready to Pick This Week

The orchard is moving fast this year, and with the warm weather the fruit is ripening earlier than usual. Apologies we've been a little quiet on the blog recently – we've been busy in the orchard! We're back with regular updates, and here's what's looking great right now at Leith House Orchard.

On the ORCHARD Stall

Freshly picked and ready to take home:

  • Violetta

  • Opal

  • Oullins Gage

Pick Your Own

If you'd rather head into the orchard and pick your own, you'll currently find:

  • Czars

  • Oullins Gage

  • Sanctus Hubertus

  • Violetta

  • Early Transparent Gage

For the plum enthusiasts...

If you've visited us before or enjoy trying some of the more unusual varieties that may require some skill and patience, keep an eye out for:

  • The first Jefferson plums – just enough are ready to start picking.

  • Blue Tit – a handful are ripe on the trees, with plenty that have naturally fallen and are delicious to eat.

  • Bountiful Cross – incredibly limited this week, but if you can find one, they're fully ripe and unbelievably tasty.

As always, availability changes daily as more fruit ripens, so every visit can be a little different.

You will find delicious artisan produce on the stall and a very special spot to sit back and enjoy a drink and something to eat with fresh coffee, our Malt Coast draught beer, local wine and sweet treats available.

We'll keep the updates coming as more varieties ripen over the next few weeks. See you in the orchard!
